Day 26 of 365

I love this series of little books published by Phaidon Press. Each book is about one photographer, a biography and some of their pictures. Their most famous and some you have never seen before. You can have lots of your favorite photographers with out having to spend a fortune. A great reference file, when you are asking yourself, oh I know this picture but who shot it.

I was downtown Royal Oak and these large red peppers, on the front of Monterrey's, caught my attention... as intended I guess.

My wife and I recently attented a wine tasting for fine Spanish wines. I am particapating in "project 365" so I brought my camers along just in case I saw something interesting to photograph. As soon as I walked in my eye is taken by this open flame in a small oven behind rows of bottles of wine ready to be tasted. It was the first picture I took and the one I used for project 365. When does that ever happen?

Star Dream

If you have been to Royal Oak, then you have seen the fountain Star Dream, created by Marshall Fredericks. Marshall Fredericks" studio was in Royal Oak, so it is fitting to have some of his work here. The Detroit Zoo, also in Royal Oak, also has some of his sculptures. Probably the most notable is the Spirt of Detroit by city Hall.

First wedding at Book-Cadillac since 1984

I had the pleasure lately, of photographing the Lewis wedding at the Book-Cadillac in down town Detroit. It was just re-opened after years of laying dormant. This was the first wedding to take place in the newly restored building. I somehow felt Like I was in an old Hollywood movie. The grooms parents were married there on Valentines Day in 1968. Thus I felt it was necessary to include some Black and white photography to preserve the original feel of a wedding in the sixties. I really enjoyed photographing the  wedding and the Book-Cadillac and so much that my, wife and I, stayed there that night. NOTE: Wife’s make excellent assistants at a weddings!
